The FirmTech Performance Ring, an adjustable elastomer ring with a hook-and-latch strap

Is the Performance Ring a good ED ring for men new to rings?

Yes, for most men it is the simplest place to start. The FirmTech Performance Ring costs $60, has nothing to charge or pair, adjusts to your size with a hook-and-latch strap, and is rated 3 of 5 for tightness by FirmTech, which keeps it comfortable for up to 12 hours.

Pick the MaxPR instead if you already like rings and want more pressure, or the TechRing if you want data on firmness, duration and nighttime erections.

The Performance Ring at a glance

What is the Performance Ring?

The Performance Ring is the original FirmTech ring. It is a soft, adjustable erection ring made from medical-grade elastomer, phthalate- and latex-free, with the anatomical peno-scrotal shape FirmTech designed with urologists: one loop around the base of the penis, one behind the testicles.

Gentle, even pressure at the base slows blood from flowing back out, so erections stay firmer from start to finish. It is drug free and ready whenever you are: no pills, no prescription and no planning ahead. FirmTech says it keeps blood in without blocking ejaculation, and you can put it on before an erection.

How do I wear the Performance Ring?

  1. Step 1: Open

Unhook the latch and open the loops.

  2. Step 2: Place

Loop it around the base of the penis and behind the testicles.

  3. Step 3: Adjust

Set the tension so it is snug but comfortable. Loosen it if anything pinches or goes numb.

Care is simple: rinse with warm water and mild soap. Use water- or silicone-based lubricants only, never natural oils such as coconut or CBD. It ships in a plain, unbranded box, free on orders over $100.

Common questions

Short answers here. All 49 questions are on the FirmTech erection ring FAQ.

What is the best erection ring for a first-timer?
For most first-timers the Performance Ring is the easiest start: $60, an adjustable fit FirmTech rates 3 of 5 for tightness, nothing to charge, and wear time of up to 12 hours. Move to the MaxPR if you want more tightness, or the TechRing if you want measurements. More in the FAQ
What is the difference between the Performance Ring and MaxPR?
Both cost $60 and share the same doctor-designed, adjustable peno-scrotal shape. The MaxPR is slimmer and snugger: FirmTech rates its tightness 5 of 5, against 3 of 5 for the Performance Ring. The Performance Ring can be worn up to 12 hours, the MaxPR up to 90 minutes. More in the FAQ
How do I put on a FirmTech ring?
Hold the loop open and drop the testicles through it, then set the second loop around the base of the penis, so one loop sits behind the testicles and one at the base. Adjust the strap until it is snug but not tight. It takes a few seconds. More in the FAQ
Can I put it on before an erection?
Yes. FirmTech rings are designed to go on when you are soft, so you can put one on discreetly ahead of time rather than fumbling in the moment. More in the FAQ
How long can I wear an erection ring?
It depends on the ring. FirmTech lists safe wear times of up to 12 hours for the TechRing and Performance Ring, and up to 90 minutes for the MaxPR, its tightest ring. Generic rings often carry shorter limits, so always follow the maker's guidance for the ring you own. More in the FAQ
Which lubricants can I use with a ring?
Water-based or silicone-based lubricants only. FirmTech says not to use natural oil lubricants, such as coconut oil or CBD oil, with any of its rings. More in the FAQ
Can I pay with HSA or FSA?
Yes. The TechRing, Performance Ring, MaxPR and bundles that pair them are HSA/FSA eligible through Flex at checkout. Accessories, protection plans and shipping are not eligible. Your plan administrator has the final say on what it covers. More in the FAQ
What warranty comes with each ring?
The TechRing has a 1-year warranty from the date of purchase, listed as covering the electronics plus 2 sleeve replacements. The Performance Ring, MaxPR and RingMate each carry a 3-month warranty. Optional TechRing protection costs $29 for 1 year or $39 for 2 years. More in the FAQ
